Description:
Set up a public Jellyfin + Xtream test server with legal content for:

  • Development and testing
  • App Store review process (required for submission)
  • Potential use by Jellyfin/Xtream developer communities

Requirements:

Jellyfin Content:

  • Movies: Public domain films (Internet Archive, Blender open movies)
  • TV Shows: Creative Commons licensed series
  • Live TV: Test streams (if possible)
  • Various formats: 4K, HDR, different codecs, multi-audio, subtitles

Xtream Content:

  • Live TV channels (test/demo streams)
  • VOD content
  • Series content
  • Edge cases: broken streams, various codecs

Technical Setup:

  • Choose hosting platform (self-hosted or cloud VPS?)
  • Install Jellyfin server
  • Install Xtream server (or mock service)
  • Curate legal content library
  • Create test user accounts
  • Document credentials for App Store review
  • Set up monitoring/maintenance

Content Sources:

  • Internet Archive (archive.org)
  • Blender Open Movies (Big Buck Bunny, Sintel, Tears of Steel, etc.)
  • NASA footage
  • Creative Commons content
  • Public domain films/TV
